In this world of self isolation there are many things we all miss. One thing you don’t have to miss anymore is looking at some beautiful art. On Friday, 7/3, the Drive-Walk-Bike-By City Art Show will be happening in Pittsfield. Local, and not so local, artists will be displaying their work on the lawns of Pittsfield. Although I don’t live there myself, I am graciously being hosted at 27 Concord Parkway, so come over and see some art again! And never forget, something great is always just over the horizon!

This is an outdoor event, so in the case that mother nature starts crying over the beauty of this moment, the rain date is the following Friday, July 10th. Hope to see you there!

I am giving a painting demonstration of my oil glazing technique at the Arftul Mind Gallery in Housatonic. The demo will start at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 19th. If you have never seen oil glazing it is a very interesting process that produces the most extraordinary effect. If you have seen my demo before this is also a chance to see my latest work in progress, and please bring all your questions!

I have work on display, along with 10 other talented artists, in the gallery. In addition, I will have some other work on display for the demonstration, so there is more to see!

Painting Demonstration for Summer Family Day at The Clark

I am so proud to be doing a demonstration at The Clark as part of their Summer Family Day! I will be on the grounds from 11am to 4pm doing demonstrations of my glazing technique and answering questions from the crowd. There will be plenty of examples of my work on display as well, so come on over and see how the sausage is made!

My technique of building up painting through roughly 30 layers of oil paint can't be demonstrated beginning to end, but I will show you the process for a single layer on several paintings. Glazing produces a unique experience as light penetrates the layers then reflects back out making the canvas look like it is emitting light. A striking technique that is used so rarely today.

Artscape is holding an art auction on June 13th. I’m telling you this because: a) it is a great cause bringing amazing sculptures to the streets of Pittsfield, and b) I have donated the work above for this auction! I have relinquished my role as curator at Steven Valenti’s Clothing. It has been a great pleasure of mine to participate in the First Fridays Artswalk since it began in 2012, but with my work in high demand it is time that I focus on my own shows. "Illusions & Reality" @ Kimball Farms. Opening Reception 3/24, 3-5pm

I am participating in a group show at the Kimball Farms Connector Gallery starting March 24th and open through May 12th with opening reception Sunday, May 24th from 3-5pm. The show, titled Illusions & Reality - the Real, Surreal and Unreal, features four great Berkshire artists: Morris Bennett, Mario Caluori, Julio Granda, and little ole me. The space is expansive, so don’t expect just a couple works from us, each artist has a vast wall to showcase their work. Be sure to come to the opening reception where refreshments will be served and guests will enjoy piano music by Karen Tchougourian. The artists will donate 10% of profits from sales to HospiceCare in The Berkshires.

Crowdsourced Show at Steven Valenti's

This November I will be showing a group of my work at Steven Valenti's Clothing store in Pittsfield, MA. The show is promising to be a special exhibit of my work as I have opened the curatorial process to the public! I am crowdsourcing the selection of work to anyone who wants their opinion known. So have a look around this site and let me know what you would like to see in person. I have already begun collecting ideas from my mailing list and have to say it is turning out rather amazingly well, with several works I have not shown in many years. Artful Mind Article 2018

This year has been full of surprises, but the biggest has been a full article, and cover, of me in The Artful Mind magazine! Last month Harryet Candee interviewed me for the magazine. Her questions were insightful and some I had never heard before. I also had the pleasure of working with Tasja Keetman, the photographer for the article. They both had the difficult task of making me look good, and I think they actually pulled it off. Everything was put together amazingly well and I hope you like it! This Friday, August 3rd, I will be holding a reception for my first solo show at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts! Although I have had many solo shows in the past, none have been in a space quite this large. In preparation, I have made several new large scale paintings to fit the beautiful venue. As I am hoping to see many new faces at this reception, I will be giving a brief introduction to my work as part of the opening. The talk will start at 5:30pm, August 3rd, and I will be available the rest of the reception if anyone wants to ask questions one on one. If you cannot make the reception, the show will be on display from August 1st through August 31st, so make sure to stop in.
